In 2021, Civitavecchia will handle 2,4 million cruise passengers, making it the largest and most important cruise port in Italy. More than 52.000 people live in the city, which belongs to the metropolitan city of Rome, formerly the Italian province of Rome. There is an 80-kilometer distance between the two cities. Civitavecchia means “Old City”. For Rome and the Lazio region, Civitavecchia’s port is very important. Ports in Civitavecchia are among the ten largest in the world. There were 750 cruise ships registered for the next year by mid-November 2019. In 2020, these conditions will be good. Additionally, Civitavecchia has an active trading port, as well as a number of ferry routes serving the city.
